Dr Churm is a co-investigator on BIOVIT’s bioavailability trial at Swansea University. She contributed to the study design, data collection, and analysis of the 30-day human intervention trial comparing organic and synthetic micronutrient supplementation.

She is a co-author on the Nutrition Society Winter Conference abstract presenting the trial’s findings.

Academic Background

Dr Churm is a STEM Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Sciences at Swansea University, based within the A-STEM Research Centre. Her research focuses on molecular pathways, genetics, and biochemistry — with particular expertise in the metabolic state, hormone regulation, adipocyte function, and glucose homeostasis.

She works in close collaboration with the NHS, including the Diabetes Research Group at Swansea University Medical School, on clinical research in obesity and metabolic health. Her work explores the impact of habitual physical activity on disease prevention and management.

Dr Churm is a member of the NNEdPro Global Centre for Nutrition and Health (UK & Ireland Regional Network), the Education and Research in Medical Nutrition Network (ERimNN), and the Association for the Study of Obesity.
