The Story
Ky’s journey to founding BIOVIT started with a problem. He had built Human Food, a meal replacement brand, and wanted to get organic certification. But he couldn’t — because every vitamin and mineral available to add to food products was synthetically produced. Organic certifiers wouldn’t approve them.
That’s when he saw the gap. The food and drink industry was using billions of doses of synthetic vitamins derived from petrochemicals and industrial processes, while consumers increasingly demanded natural, clean-label products. There was no dedicated supplier offering a complete range of natural, organic vitamins and minerals for food fortification.
Ky founded BIOVIT to fill it. He assembled a portfolio of 16 vitamins and minerals, each derived from a specific organically grown plant, algae, or fungus. He partnered with Swansea University to run the first clinical bioavailability trial comparing natural and synthetic vitamins. And he secured £2.7 million in Innovate UK funding through the ‘Better Food for All’ programme to prove that natural could match synthetic on every measure that matters.
Today, BIOVIT supplies brands like Cheerful Buddha, Veloforte, Purition, and Love Mushrooms. The first BIOVIT-fortified products are on UK shelves. The bioavailability trial has confirmed equivalent performance. And the BIOVIT Trust Mark — backed by consumer research showing a 21% increase in willingness to buy — is appearing on more products every quarter.
