About BIOVIT

Who we are, what we do, and why we exist.

What is BIOVIT?

BIOVIT is the world’s only dedicated natural vitamin and mineral company. We supply food, drink, and nutrition brands with natural vitamins and minerals, all derived from organically grown plants, algae, and fungi, and with clinically proven bioavailability. We provide single ingredients, ready-made premix blends, and fully bespoke formulations.

Who do you supply?

We supply B2B customers only; food brands, drink brands, supplement companies, contract manufacturers, and anyone developing products that need natural vitamins and minerals. Some of our current clients include Cheerful Buddha, Veloforte, Purition, Love Mushrooms, FEM, and Soul Kitchen.

Where are you based?

BIOVIT is a Welsh-owned company, with all ingredients and premix blends manufactured by Plant-Ex Ingredients Ltd at their BRC-certified UK facility. We ship globally, including to Southeast Asia, Australia, the USA, and Europe. We also collaborate with leading UK universities and institutions, such as Swansea University, which led our clinical bioavailability study.

Who manufactures your ingredients?

All BIOVIT ingredients and premix blends are manufactured by Plant-Ex Ingredients Ltd at their UK facility. Plant-Ex holds BRC, Sedex, FDA, Organic, Halal, and Kosher certifications. They have the capacity for any order size, from 1 kg MOQ to production-scale volumes.

Is BIOVIT a supplement brand?

No. BIOVIT is a B2B ingredient supplier, not a supplement brand. We supply the natural vitamin and mineral ingredients that other brands use in their products.

Ingredients

Where our vitamins and minerals come from - and why it matters.

What ingredients do you supply?

We supply 17 vitamins and minerals: Vitamin A (moringa leaf), Vitamin C (acerola cherry or amla berry), Vitamin D3 (lichen), Vitamin D2 (shiitake mushroom), Vitamin E (moringa leaf), Vitamin K2 (parsley leaf), Vitamin B6 (lemon peel or guava, mango and holy basil), Biotin B7 (sunflower seeds and coriander leaf), Folate B9 (spinach leaf), Vitamin B12 (shiitake mushroom), Calcium (algae), Iron (curry leaf), Zinc (guava leaf), Selenium (sunflower seeds), Magnesium (sea water), Chromium (parsley and curry leaf), and Iodine (seaweed).

What sources do you use?

Every ingredient is derived from a specific organically grown plant, algae, or fungus. For example, our Vitamin C comes from acerola cherry, our Vitamin B6 from lemon peel, our Iron from curry leaf, and our B12 from shiitake mushroom. No synthetics, no petrochemicals.

Are your ingredients really organic?

Most BIOVIT ingredients are available as Soil Association Organic-certified. These raw materials are sourced from certified organic farms and processed to maintain organic status throughout the supply chain.

What certifications do you hold?

Soil Association Organic, EU/Non-EU Agriculture, Vegan, Gluten-Free. All certifications apply to every ingredient in the range.

Are your vitamins vegan?

Yes. Every BIOVIT ingredient is plant, algae, or fungi-derived and suitable for vegans. This includes our Vitamin D3, which comes from lichen rather than the industry-standard lanolin (sheep’s wool).

What formats are your ingredients available in?

Our ingredients come as powders. Custom formats can be discussed with our formulation team.

Formulation & Processing

Processing stability, shelf life, and custom blending.

Will natural vitamins survive pasteurisation?

Yes. Our natural nutrient stability database, built through extensive trials with Reading Scientific Services Limited (RSSL), includes detailed pasteurisation data across a range of temperatures, times, and product formats. We use this to calculate precise overages, ensuring your finished product meets label claims after processing. For example, Cheerful Buddha’s pasteurised sparkling drinks contain BIOVIT’s vitamin D3, B12, and iron, while achieving a 12-month shelf life.

Will they survive baking?

Yes - when properly formulated, they can survive baking. Using our natural nutrient stability database, developed through trials with Reading Scientific Services Limited (RSSL), we model how nutrients respond to baking conditions and apply precise overages to ensure label claims are met post-processing. Our Registered Nutritionist calculates these for every formulation.

Can I carbonate a drink with natural vitamins?

Yes. BIOVIT offers a wide range of ingredients suitable for carbonated beverages. Cheerful Buddha’s sparkling functional drinks are a live example. Once we understand your product brief, we can tailor a solution to meet your exact needs.

What about retort processing?

Our stability database covers retort processing. Most natural nutrients can withstand retort with appropriate overages. We calculate these as part of every formulation project.

What is the shelf life of your ingredients?

All powder blends have a 24-month shelf life. For custom blends, the shelf life in the final product depends on the product format and processing method. Our stability data from extensive trials with RSSL can predict shelf life for any application.

Can you create a custom premix blend?

Yes. Our Registered Nutritionist designs fully bespoke premix formulations tailored to your product format, processing method, target health claims, and marketing goals. We have 10+ ready-made blends, but custom blending is a core part of what we do. Our custom blend formulations will ensure your product meets it’s on pack nutrition claims post-processing and at the end of shelf life.

What premix blends do you offer?

We offer 10+ ready-made functional premixes: Broad Spectrum, Immunity, GLP-1, Energy, Brain Health, Beauty, Sports, and Women’s Health. Each serving delivers targeted nutrients that support legal health claims for its specific function. Plus, we offer fully bespoke blends to suit your brief.

Regulatory & Health Claims

EFSA health claims, labelling, and compliance support.

What EFSA health claims can I make?

BIOVIT’s ingredients unlock over 100 legally recognised health claims across EFSA (UK/EU), FDA (US), and FSANZ (Australia/New Zealand) regulations. Natural sourcing of the nutrients doesn’t limit your use of health claims in any way. Claims cover immunity, energy, bones, skin, hair, cognitive function, tiredness, pregnancy, and many more.

Can you help with labelling?

Yes. Our Registered Nutritionist provides exact health claim wording, minimum inclusion levels, on-pack nutrition table calculations, and ingredient declaration guidance. This is one of the most-used parts of our consultancy service.

Does natural sourcing affect what health claims I can make?

No. Health claims rely on the vitamin or mineral being present at the required level. For example, a product with the correct amount of vitamin D3 can make the same claims whether the D3 comes naturally from ingredients (e.g., BIOVIT) or is added synthetically - the only difference is a cleaner, more appealing ingredient declaration.

What is the BIOVIT Trust Mark?

The BIOVIT Trust Mark is an on-pack brand mark that signals to consumers that a product contains natural vitamins and minerals with clinically proven bioavailability. Consumer research shows it increases willingness to buy by 21% and price prepared to pay by 10%. Every brand using BIOVIT receives the Trust Mark at no additional cost.

Can I use the Trust Mark on the front of the pack?

Yes. The Trust Mark is designed for front-of-pack, back-of-pack, or both. Multiple colour variants are available to suit your packaging design. Full brand guidelines and artwork files are provided.

Cost & Commercial

How natural compares to synthetic - and the commercial upside.

How does the cost compare to synthetic vitamins?

Cost is very comparable to synthetic vitamins. Prices for natural vitamins and minerals vary based on concentration and bulk, with some being slightly higher per kilo due to their potency. However, the effect on your finished product’s cost of goods is usually around just 1%. Independent research shows that this small investment can drive a 10% price premium and a 21% increase in consumer willingness to buy—making the commercial return highly attractive.

What is the Trust Mark ROI?

Swansea University and Kaleidoscope research shows the BIOVIT Trust Mark delivers +21% willingness to buy (49% to 62%), +10% price premium (£2.08 to £2.28), +19% willingness to try, and +15% liking score — for approximately 1% impact on cost of goods.

Do you charge for the consultancy service?

Contact BIOVIT for consultancy rates. Pricing is tailored to project scope. Basic formulation guidance and EFSA claims advice is typically included for all BIOVIT customers; more complex projects (full stability testing protocols, bespoke multi-blend development) are quoted separately.

Is the Trust Mark included in the price?

Yes. Every brand using BIOVIT ingredients receives the Trust Mark and Trust Mark Alliance membership at no additional cost, regardless of order size.

Evidence & Research

Clinical trials, bioavailability data, and consumer research.

Do you have bioavailability data?

Yes. A 30-day human intervention trial at Swansea University with ~60 participants measured plasma vitamin and mineral levels before and after supplementation with BIOVIT’s premix versus a synthetic alternative. The results confirmed that BIOVIT’s natural vitamins provide equivalent bioavailability to synthetic versions. The trial was funded by UKRI and is being published in a peer-reviewed journal in 2026.

Are natural vitamins as effective as synthetic?

Yes. The Swansea University clinical trial confirmed equivalent bioavailability. Natural doesn’t mean compromise — it means the same efficacy from a better source, with the additional commercial benefits of consumer preference, clean labels, and the BIOVIT Trust Mark.

Where is the consumer research?

BIOVIT has conducted multiple proprietary consumer surveys through Vypr (255–505 respondents per survey) and a Trust Mark commercial impact study with Swansea University and Kaleidoscope. Key findings: 92% prefer natural, 67% chose the BIOVIT product, +21% willingness to buy with the Trust Mark.

Do you have stability data?

Yes. With support from RSSL and Eurofins, we’ve built the most comprehensive natural nutrient stability database in the industry. It covers UHT, pasteurisation, baking, carbonation, dry blending, retort, and ambient storage across our natural ingredient portfolio. We use this to calculate precise overages, ensuring your finished product meets label claims after processing.

Can I use your research data in my own marketing?

Yes. Trust Mark Alliance members can use BIOVIT’s bioavailability trial data, consumer research, and stability data in their own marketing, sales presentations, and investor materials. Full data access comes with Alliance membership.

Who led BIOVIT’s clinical trial?

Professor Richard Bracken is the Swansea University Research Lead who designed and led the 30-day bioavailability trial. His research team specialises in human nutrition, exercise physiology, and micronutrient metabolism.
